Life

On March 5, 2009, Senator Mikulski rejected a law "To require that amounts appropriated for the United Nations Population Fund are not used by organizations which support coercive abortion or involuntary sterilization." [H.R. 1105, S. Amdt. 613] In other words, instead of devoting your taxes to build America's infrastructure, Senator Mikulski voted to send your tax dollars to the United Nations knowing that those dollars may end up funding coercive abortion and involuntary sterilization in foreign countries. Nations that force women to have abortions against their will and forceably sterilize women against their will are not friends of America and are enemies of women's rights. Do you want to pay for that type of medical terror?

If you object to your tax dollars being used to fund abortions and forced sterilization of women throughout the world, then vote for Jim Rutledge, a Senator who will work to stop this intrusion on your freedom of conscience.

To respect Human Dignity requires placing a special and unique value on human life. A civilized people must value human life above all other forms of plant and animal life on earth. A Nation's laws should likewise place a high value upon all human life. Human Life is a paramount and unalienable right given to us by our Creator. "Unalienable" means that the Creator gave every person the right to Life, and no government no matter how powerful can justly take that away without due process of law. Accordingly, Jim Rutledge promotes the following public policies regarding Life:

First, the life of the fetus deserves the protection of our laws as a person, as the weakest and most defenseless person in America. No person has the right to take the life of another unless they are defending themselves from attack or are defending another from imminent and deadly force. Accordingly, Jim Rutledge is Pro Life.

Second, the life of a sick or elderly person is as valuable as the life of a healthy one. We cannot allow the government to legalize, promote, and pay for killing innocent people out of convenience. Therefore, Jim Rutledge opposes euthanasia and opposes laws that authorize state and physician assisted suicide.

Liberty is hard to maintain in the face of powerful leaders. That is why so much of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights are devoted to protecting people's individual freedoms from control by a powerful elite. This campaign is about Freedom. Please spend some time reflecting on your freedoms and liberties, and the threats to those freedoms, because only you, through your Freedom of Speech and your vote, can demand leadership that will uphold and defend the Constitution in order to secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.
